ABOUT THE BREAKERS

Oak Bay Secondary School is fielding a very strong Junior Girls Basketball Team. The foundation of this year’s team, the Oak Bay Breakers, comprises six of the players from last year’s team that finished 8^th at the BC Provincial Championships. Six new players have joined the team to complete the roster—providing the full range of height, skills and experience.

Our two coaches, Brandon Ellis and Liam Farrell, bring a fresh and exciting perspective to coaching this year’s team—replacing long time coach Gary Baker who is on loan to Spectrum Secondary School and the University of Victoria. Brandon played basketball for GP Vanier, the University of Victoria and then professionally in Germany while Liam is an Oak Bay alumni who played professionally in Switzerland.

This year’s team plans for an exciting season—our players are keen to build on last year’s success and make an impressive showing at the Vancouver Island and BC Provincial Championships. The team is off to a good start by winning its first tournament—the Tipoff Tournament in Victoria.
