DIEGO KAPELAN |
Diego had a very successful high school career at King George Secondary (Vancouver). During his senior year, he averaged 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game and was considered by many to be one of the top shooters in British Columbia. A 3D Elite member for five years, Diego trained very hard on his game and went on to play at McNeese State University in Louisiana (NCAA Division 1) after high school. Currently, Diego is averaging 28 minutes, 13.2 points per game and is shooting over 40% from the 3-point line.
This blog follows Diego during his sophomore season and is meant for players to get a first hand perspective on what it takes to be a student-athlete at the next level.

After a long week of school and basketball i must admit i was pretty drained but coach gave us a day off today so i spent most of my day eating and sleeping and when my body was finally feeling recovered i went and did a workout for about an hour and a half which consisted of shooting, ball handling, and strength & conditioning. It was pretty much a full workout. Sundays and Thursdays are the only days i can do these types of workouts because we play our games on Wednesdays and Saturdays so that gives my body enough time to recover. This past week we had 2 games and they were both at home. We played Northwestern State and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. We finished the week off 1-1. We lost to Northwestern State by 10 points and it was the first time we have lost to them since i have been playing. Everybody was really upset because coming into the game we were really confident that we would get the win. Yesterday we played Corpus and coming into the game they were ranked 2nd in the conference. It was a very physical game, one of my teammates ended up with a concussion and another with some stitches above his eye. We played well enough and won. We have 4 games left in our season and have to win all 4 to make the conference tournament. Up next we got Sam Houston State and they're 11-1 in conference and coming off their first loss yesterday. It's time for me to hit the bed...got to wake up at 6:30 and hit the weights. Take care until next time!
