Jamie continued his playing career at Capilano College and then to Langara College where he captained the team to back to back B.C. Provincial and Canadian National Championships. After his playing days, Jamie moved on to coaching where he became the Assistant Coach at Langara College under current UBC Head Coach Kevin Hanson. When Hanson moved on to UBC, Jamie took over Langara as a 23 year old and was able to get the Falcons back to the National tournament where he became the youngest ever BC and National Coach of the Year. Jamie then moved to Sweden to Coach Professional Basketball. Jamie took the struggling Sallen Basket team from a 4-18 record to a 24-14 record and was runner up for Swedish Coach of the Year. Upon returning to Vancouver Jamie moved on to Douglas College. After a year as an assistant, Jamie took over as head coach at Douglas and turned the program around. In his second year the team finished 15-1 in league play and took home their first Provincial title in 13 years. The team finished second at the National tournament. This past year Douglas College set many records. With a pre season win over NCAA tournament bound Boise State, the Royals became the first Canadian College team to beat an NCAA Division 1 team. Douglas then became the first team in BCCAA history to finish 16-0 and went on to become the BC and Canadian National Champions. “I am really looking forward to working at 3D,” said Jamie. “They have a great reputation in the Basketball Community and have produced some of the best young men and women in the province over the past 10 years.” Along with working with the Elite Boys Program at 3D, Jamie will also work part time with the 3D Elite Girls, help with overall growth and expansion of 3D and help with the creation of both 3D Scholarship and 3D Sponsorship programs. |
